About Noordhoek

Noordhoek is surprisingly convenient in terms of location with access to the centre of Cape Town in just 35 – 40 minutes (via Chapman’s Peak). Even in rush hour the drive from Cape Town doesn’t take longer than one hour. Nestled in a valley with the natural boundaries of Silvermine mountainside and the Atlantic Ocean, the Noordhoek area has much to offer residents with its natural beauty, a retreat from the hustle of town life and wide array of amenities.

Visitors to the southern suburbs of Cape Town will no doubt be aware of the picturesque hamlet that is Noordhoek Village. There is a sense of community in Noordhoek, a welcoming vibe most associated with villages and indeed this is reflected in the personality of the valley and the people. Accessible from Cape Town via the world-famous drive along Chapman’s Peak Drive or over the Silvermine mountain range, Noordhoek has become one of the South Peninsula’s most sought-after addresses.

Whilst Noordhoek has seen substantial development in the last 5 years, tight environmental controls and the natural borders of the sea and conservation land have ensured it retains a village vibe and natural beauty. It is indeed the village vibe that Noordhoek remains famous for. Whether it’s the attraction of the hosting the southern seaboard’s longest beach frequented by sun-seekers, dog walkers, surfers and horse-riders, the wonderful hiking trails or the hospitable Noordhoek Farm Village, life in Noordhoek is never boring.

Some Noordhoek highlights include:

  • The music and entertainment nights at the Café Roux (who happen to do one of the best breakfasts in Cape Town.)
  • The Village’s free children entertainment throughout the summer season on Saturdays
  • Its very own pop idols contest
  • The annual village fête
  • The Foodbarns skilled owner and chef, Franck, demonstrating his cooking skills (twice weekly during winter months)
  • The sunset horse-riding
  • Sundowners at Monkey Valley
  • Hiking and biking trails over Silvermine
  • The quaint postcard towns of Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town a mere 5 – 10-minute drive
  • A 20-minute drive to Cape Point
  • Shopping at the well-appointed local Longbeach shopping mall or collection of local curio shops
  • Some of the best surfing for miles around
  • Our very own vineyard – Cape Point
  • A 5-minute drive or 15-minute cycle ride sees you on the beach or in the mountains
  • And of course – the people – friendly, welcoming and mutlicultural. Noordhoek boasts South Africans, Germans, English, Dutch, French, Portuguese and Italian to name but a few of the resident nationalities
  • No wonder so many people fall in love with Noordhoek’s charms and make it their annual holiday home

Noordhoek offers an excellent option for your next holiday. It combines country / seaside life with city accessibility and host of attractions within minutes of your home.
